MEET OUR DANCE TEACHING TEAM

  • April currently teaches intermediate hip hop, little hip hop, and tap at Prana. She has been teaching dance since she was in high school, starting as an assistant to sister Angela before Prana opened in 2004. Since then, April has taught classes at various studios and conventions around Northeast Ohio and coached dance teams at both the high school and middle school level. After college, April began her career in education and continued to teach at Prana and coach cheerleading and dance team while teaching middle school language arts. She currently teaches at North Royalton Middle School and is hoping to start an adult hip hop cardio class at Prana soon! Stay tuned!

  • Erika Hunt is a native of Northeast Ohio and began her training in 1990 at the University of Akron Dance Institute. While at the Institute Erika had the pleasure of working with a diverse and talented faculty including Ana Lobe, Tatyana and Roman Mazur, Richard Dickinson, Jane Startzman, Lana Carroll, Andrew Carroll, MaryAnn Black, Amy Miller, Christina Foisie and Felise Bagley.

Erika supplemented her early training with summer studies at both Pittsburgh Ballet Theater and Jennifer Muller/The Works. She continued her dance education at the University of Akron, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2008.

She has performed in multiple professional and pre-professional capacities throughout the region including performances with Ohio Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, University of Akron Dance Company and appearances regionally as a guest artist. Ms. Hunt has over 15 years of teaching experience in ballet and pointe and has completed educator exams in the Cecchetti syllabus grades I-V. Her focus as an instructor is helping students develop and understand the technical framework that can support the full range of physical dynamics and artistic expression available within the ballet vocabulary.

  • Isa started dancing at a very young age, mostly taking lots of ballet classes. Isa comes from a Mexican background in which dance is a prominent form of art & self expression. She grew up with many different styles of dance such as Mexican dances and ballet. Some of her favorite styles of dance are ballet and contemporary. She loves the technique ballet offers and also loves contemporary because it always gave her a space to be able to express without much emphasis on technique. During her senior year, she shadowed her dance teacher, Erika, who worked at the same studio where Isa danced. Isa began teaching at Prana in 2021. Isa teaches musical theater, jazz, and lyrical classes. She enjoys the atmosphere of the studio and loves to work with kids. They make the job so much fun! In her free time Isa loves to paint, go out with friends, be active outside, read and study astrology. She is also currently in school part time to get her bachelors degree in fine arts
